Experiencing low energy and high levels of stress is very common in our society- and often normalized as “a part of life”.
Stress and Fatigue are often listed as a symptom and often a primary reason why someone seeks naturopathic care. At Annex Naturopathic, our job is to get to the bottom of your fatigue and through medical assessment and understanding the context of the stressors in your life.
There are number of underlying reasons that contribute to low energy, including both physiological factors (hormonal imbalances and nutrient deficiencies) as well as social and environmental conditions. Routine laboratory tests can be integral to make sure we’re not overlooking obvious deficiencies or imbalances (ie. iron, B12, vitamin D, thyroid panel) and if indicated run functional diagnostic testing (ie. adrenal and hormone panels).
Additionally, signs and symptoms in different systems in the body can contribute to fatigue. Digestive problems demonstrate this concept well – if the digestive process is impaired, so is the efficient extraction and absorption of essential nutrients that are required for daily functioning.
Our goal is to implement a focused treatment plan that will both treat the current underlying causes and create resiliency so that energy is maintained even through stressful periods.
Common underlying causes of low energy include:
- Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies (iron, magnesium, vitamin D, Vitamin B12)
- Adrenal fatigue
- Low thyroid/hypothyroidism
- Mood and mental health concerns
- Stress
- Irregular sleep patterns
- Burdened detoxification pathways
